My Story
My woodworking story begins when I took a woodshop class in 7th grade, many years ago. Most of my projects involved softwoods (pine and fir) and plywood to create small projects around the house (bookcases, garage shelves, outdoor sheds).
In 2018, my company made me an offer that I couldn’t refuse, so after 45+ years in the Information Technology field, I was free to explore several new hobbies to keep me busy. A neighbor gifted me some hardwood scraps from his cabinet shop so I started down the road of creating various projects using hardwood (maple, cherry, and walnut), primarily making simple charcuterie boards. I won’t embarrass myself by sharing a picture of my first charcuterie board since it was simply five pieces of wood glued together with nothing remarkable about it.
After exhausting my supply of free wood, I went to buy longer pieces of lumber and quickly discovered that this can be an expensive hobby. To support my habit, I made different items to sell in a local winery and eventually started to attend local craft fairs. My items sell for far less than what they would sell for on Etsy, but those sales allowed me to buy more wood and upgrade my tools to keep me busy without going broke. It also allowed me to make items for my children and grandchildren using quality wood instead of pine.
Over the past six years, I have branched out to use more exotic hardwoods to build a wide variety of projects. Whenever I could find a new wood species, I started to include those woods (canarywood, leopardwood, zebrawood, padauk, purpleheart, wenge, jatoba) in different projects. It made woodworking more fun to mix and match various wood species to create some interesting combinations.
Sometimes it worked … and sometimes it didn’t. But more often than not, I got some surprises with some of the combinations and the wood grain that would pop out once I put on the finish.
So please take some time to view the Gallery section that shows the projects that I have made since 2018.
Most items include a Unique engraved logo

Items that are large enough to accept an engraved logo will typically appear on the bottom surface of the item (charcuterie boards, cutting boards, wall-mounted bottle openers, cheese slicers, etc.).
Every item with a logo will include the year the item was created, followed by a sequential number underneath the year. The first item of the year is #1 and each new item gets a new number.
By doing this, each item contains a unique identifier that shares a similar characteristic with many “art” objects.
Inside the logo, I personally write my initials on the left side.
